So I've been a little slow uploading a set of SWF photos lately, and because of that, I'm behind on uploading photos from MSQ and Marineland FL. But don't worry, they'll make their way on here.

I also want to thank and say hello to my new watchers! Hi. lol Thanks for checking out my work :)

I've been busy lately as well with marine mammal rescues and necropsies. My most recent endeavor was with two Pygmy Sperm Whales (Kogia breviceps) which unfortunately had to be put down. (Don't blame myself, or the Center, blame NMFS they're the ones who make the protocols.)

Anyway, my new uploads may have the same names as my older ones, because: 1. I'm uncreative at naming works and 2. I really don't care.

Thanks everyone! :D

*UPDATE 3/13/13: I finished uploading my SeaWorld photos from February 9th and 10th! Now I'll slowly be uploading ones from MSQ.*

*Update 3/20/13: finished MSQ uploads, now my Marineland photos from Nellie's 60th (2/27) will be put up :)*

*3/27/13: Marineland are up, now a bunch of SW photos will be trickling through*

So for the past few days I was out responding to a mass stranding of Short-finned Pilot Whales at a local beach in Fort Pierce, FL.
22 whales stranded but only five were taken to Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution (HBOI) for temporary care.
The whales have not been given names yet, but are known as; 144, 138, 129, 61, and 53. 144 and 129 being males, and 138, 53, and 61 are female.
61 is the youngest of the group with an estimated age of about three months. (She doesn't even have her teeth yet!)
All of them were doing fairly well, however on Monday, September 3rd, 144 passed away (I'm not sure to what though...)

Today at around 3 AM, the surviving four were transported to SeaWorld Orlando for long-term care.  I honestly thought that they should have been transported next week or so, so they might have been healthier and eating solids. But here's wishing them the best and hoping to see them again one day.

(P.S. I'm attached to 129 (We call him "Chop-Top") and 61 ("Squirt") )

Here's the article by SW on the move...

*UPDATE 10/15/12* 61 Passed away at SeaWorld. I do not know of the cause.

*UPDATE 1/9/13:* SeaWorld is keeping them www.clickorlando.com/news/Resc…

So hopefully this December, :iconschildersphotography: and I will be going to New Zealand... We're here for the Hobbits... and the Killer Whales! :excited:

So in the meantime, I'm taking "Mini" trips all around Florida; Marineland, SeaWorld, Jax Zoo, Brevard Zoo, Hopefully Miami and the Florida Keys. Also South Carolina, hoping to see the unique strand-feeding behavior by the local pod of Bottlenose dolphins.

Oh, did I mention I'm volunteering for my local Marine Mammal Stranding Center now? Yeah, I had my first necropsy last month, and let me tell you this, It was an amazing learning experience. With that said... Dolphin spleens look like Cranberry Sauce, You're welcome ;)
So I'm hoping for a stranding, so I can start gaining experience and helping with the animal. I just realized that I live closer to the center than the guy in charge of the whole program, so I guess I'll be called first to grab things, woo.
